DRESS CODE POLICY
NOTICE TO MEMBERS
Dress Code Policy
In September 2016 our dress code for the summer months (1 October to 31 March) was changed, so that a
jacket was no longer a requirement at the prize-givings at our fortnightly games. Rather, a Seniors’ tie, worn
with an appropriate short or long sleeve collared shirt with name badge affixed and appropriate long
trousers, was adopted as appropriate dress.
The dress code for all formal functions, including the Annual General Meeting, the Annual Dinner, Across the
Border and Inter Provincial golf events as well as the National Golf Tournament, was however not changed.
Thus, conformity with the International Seniors’ Dress Code was maintained.
The survey recently conducted with members in November and December 2022 revealed that a significant
majority of members, 74% of the 53 members who participated, are in favour of retaining the current dress
code.
As you will recall, members were given four alternatives, one of which included the introduction of “Jacket
and tie optional at all times”. While 26% of the respondents favoured this option, the committee, after
careful consideration and taking into account the wishes of a majority of members, decided to retain the
current dress code without any changes.
The committee is extremely conscious of the fact that our dress code is a feature of the society which
distinguishes it from most other golf societies and thus should be respected at all times.
